Our client is a leading public company specializing in the distribution industry. Known for their commitment to excellence and innovation, they are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Cost Accountant to join their dynamic team.

Position Overview:

The Cost Accountant will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing cost-related financial information. This individual will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting, providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis & Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze cost reports, budgets, and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor and report on cost variances, identifying trends and providing recommendations for cost control.
  • Cost Management:
    • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, procedures, and policies.
    • Ensure accurate costing of inventory and products, including standard costing and variance analysis.
  • Financial Coordination:
    • Collaborate with internal teams to gather data and insights for accurate cost allocation.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Compliance & Improvement:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in cost accounting.


Work Environment:

  • Location: Hybrid (Nuns Island, Quebec)
  • Work Schedule: Full-Time, Permanent

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within the distribution industry.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in cost accounting principles and practices.
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Languages:
    • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
    • Comprehensive spoken and written French.
