Senior Linux/DevOps Engineer
Role purpose
The Linux Engineer will support, maintain and improve the customer on premise server infrastructure at Operating System level. Engineers will work to drive automation and good practice to improve consistency and enhance the customer experience.
Linux Engineer is expected to have a strong focus on system engineering, the ability to deliver value and business continuity of bank application. Strong experience in Redhat Linux series and DevOps tools like Ansible, Satellite, Puppet and Jenkins.
The main goal of the Linux engineer is to drive infrastructure evolution, improvement in terms of technology and process improvement inside the Linux teams
The Linux Engineers shall collectively possess all the technical skills described below, i.e. The non-exhaustive list of job responsibilities as well as technical, people sand specific skills / experience is shown below.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise in Linux operating systems engineering
- Provide advanced technical support and serve as an escalation point for IT incidents and ser-vice requests, including with third parties (e.g. manufacturer or vendor) as necessary.
- Propose in the development of systems standards, policies and procedures.
- Design, program and modify scripts (in various scripting languages) as necessary.
- Document engineering work, incident resolution and recurring incidents; creating technical analysis, performance, and enhancement reports.
- Plan, implement and carry out maintenance consisting of upgrades/updates/fixes for core operating systems and their related components, following industry good practices.
- Ensure performance and reliability by monitoring systems for high availability, load balancing, and satisfactory response times.
- Work with other information technology professionals to resolve performance issues and optimize performance.
- Respect the ITIL V3 /V4 standards & processes for Production, Dev, UAT environments.
- Open mind, Think out of the box and look to resolve not Incidents but actual problems. Eagerness to resolve Root cause issues and ability to implement workarounds as and when needed.
Technical And Specific Skills / Experience
- Experience as engineering support for enterprise-level configuration management.
- Experience in provisioning and decommission of VM running Redhat OS.
- Good experience in LDAP protocol and systems.
- Experience in setup of Application specific servers to correspond to application requirements.
- Enhanced experience in management of DNS and DHCP.
- Experience in Redhat OS versions 5,6,7 and 8.
- Experience managing NFS/CIFS or SMB.
- Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Ansible, Python, Bash etc.;
- Experience with Devops tools such as Puppet, Satellite, Ansible, Jenkins for automated deployment.
- Standard experience as engineer at least 7 years in Linux infrastructure management.
- Significant experience in DevOps practice.
- At least one of the following vendor domain certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator(RHCSA).
- Required ITIL V3 or V4Foundation certified
- At least English level B2 required
