Setting up a team for excellence
PPS positions itself as a key player in the realm of digital prepaid solutions for fintech companies in Europe. Its partnership with companies like Revolut and TransferWise attests to this leadership. PPS stands out notably for its pivotal role in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, critical issues where the company makes a significant contribution.
Gentis actively supports PPS, particularly in the development of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) service. Through Joaquin, the Deputy-AMLCO leading this team, this collaboration has taken on a strategic dimension.
Joaquin joined the PPS team at a time when it consisted of only two members and a few external consultants. His arrival marked a positive turning point. He immediately directed his efforts towards strengthening the team internally, aiming to ensure operational continuity and swiftly address the most urgent needs.
With a focus on financial stability and enhancing the service structure, the decision was made to prioritize the recruitment of permanent talents while gradually reducing external consultants. As a result, we presented various profiles to the company, and a quick connection was established with certain candidates, leading to several successful recruitments.
The vast majority of candidates we received and interviewed were highly qualified profiles. I had the opportunity to meet candidates through other agencies where the experience didn't necessarily align, or they were very junior candidates, which didn't match our requirements. With Gentis, there's a quality in talent sourcing and a genuine filtering process at work.
In light of this structuring phase for the team, it became crucial that the candidates we put forth showcased strong stress resilience and the capability to set distinct priorities to avoid being overwhelmed by the tasks at hand. Moreover, they needed to possess a range of interpersonal and non-technical skills that are fundamental for excelling in this setting.
It's worth highlighting that certain tasks demand a high level of attention and precision, especially when engaging with law enforcement agencies or public prosecutor's offices in France and Belgium. This meticulous attention greatly contributed to the success of these interactions.
The Gentis consultants have consistently factored in all these elements to ensure they introduce us to the right candidates. The individuals we've recruited are still here, and personally, I'm highly satisfied with the recent addition of two team members!
Bringing in the right person can truly alter the trajectory of a team, and even an entire company. We had concrete proof of this through one of our recruitments at PPS. This individual, alongside their incredible proactivity, promptly proposed enhancements for our internal processes. They introduced a ticketing system and seamlessly implemented new steps aligned with GDPR standards, in collaboration with the compliance team.
Today, the internal team is made up of 6 full-time people (in addition to a team of consultants) and we continue to support this team towards excellence!
